METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Legend has it that Labradorite was original found by native Inuit tribes Canada and Alaska. Inuits once called labradorite a "fire stone" and would use powdered forms to help cure ailments. According to Inuit legend, a warrior saw the Northern Lights trapped in the rocks and struck them with his spear to free some of the lights. Labradorite is considered one of the most powerful protectors. The stone creates a shield for auras and protects against the negativity of the world. Labradorite is said to temper the negativity within ourselves as well. Labradorite is known for its changing colors, so it is no surprise this stone is known as a stone of transformation, enhancing strength of will and inner worth.Labradorite is associated with the zodiac sign of power and intuition, SCORPIO, and like Scorpio people, Labradorite stone is know to shine or “flash” when it wants to. Each boulder and palmstone is indicated as being bold or shy. Bold = easy to flash and Shy = more difficult to flash. I do hope that Scorpio Sun Natives find kinship with the shy boulders and palmstones as I have a strong inkling they will only truly show their true brilliance with them :). Another must have mineral in any collection!
Rainbow Obsidian is a naturally forming mineral volcanic glass that has captivated ancient Mexican civilizations near modern-day Jalisco, Mexico and continues to captivate all who lay eyes on it. Its mesmerizing iridescent bands are formed when lava is cooled at different rates over a period of time. The mineral Magnetite and the difference in cooling rates is what gives Rainbow Obsidian its varied colored layers. The metaphysical properties of Rainbow Obsidian are similar to other forms of Obsidian with an added bonus of being able to vibrate with all of the chakra portals due to its rainbow coloration. However, Rainbow Obsidian is primarily used as a stone of healing through immense grief and activating the Root and Heart chakra portals to ground and recuperate from heartbreaks. Rainbow Obsidian pairs well with Kyanite, Black Tourmaline, Labradorite, Moldavite, Lepidolite, Charoite and many others. The zodiac signs I associate Rainbow Obsidian with most are Pisces in tropic and vedic astrology and the Dragon in eastern astrology.
The moment I became aware of Rainbow Obsidian, I knew it would be one of my favorite crystal/mineral stones to collect and use for divining and healing, and it has yet to disappoint. Aside from its sheer beauty (I personally think it’s 100% O.K. to collect a crystal/mineral just because you think it’s stunning to look at), Rainbow Obsidian has the metaphysical substance to back it up. One of my absolute favorite crystal/minerals to collect and should be in every crystal enthusiast’s collection!
